We all need support sometimes. I don't know about you, but that surface level, "think positive thoughts" sort of therapy ... it's not doing for me.
That's why I'm so glad there are practitioners like the folks at Pulse Wellness Cooperative pursuing a more radical concept of well-being — one that starts at a young age, includes queer and gender non-conforming people, and recognizes the stress caregivers face in their daily grind.
Pulse is the very first worker-owned therapy cooperative in the state of Oregon and a group of genuinely charming, affable people. I thoroughly enjoyed creating photos of these skilled professionals at their care center on NE Broadway, and getting to know many of them in the weeks that followed.
You can tell that their hearts are in the work, and when the world seems extra scary, it gives me great comfort to know that everyday, they're just a short drive away, providing thoughful care to my neighbors.
