The greatest reward of working with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) year after year is helping them cement their legacy and impact. These skilled professionals share a vision for a Pacific NW where we can all thrive, in harmony with nature, for many generations to come.
What makes an awards ceremony meaningful isn't just the trophies — it's the conversations that happen between presentations, the quiet moments of recognition, and the collective reflection on progress made together. My approach to event photography centers on showcasing these connective moments.
This year, at the Leadership in Energy Efficiency Awards, the folx at AVENUE PORTLAND on NE Grand put photos I've made while documentating NEEA's events up on the walls ... it was so fun to look back, and think about how we've evolved together.
The images reveal colleagues who challenge and support each other, mentors who make space for new voices, and collaborators who trust enough to take risks together. These photographs aren't just documenting an event; they're preserving the very foundation of how meaningful change happens.
When organizations like NEEA invite me to document their celebrations, they're entrusting me to witness and honor the relationships that make their work possible. I create images that remind them not just of what they've accomplished, but of who they've become together.
