Of all the videos I made in collaboration with the City of Tigard, this one featuring Community Action of WA County is my absolute favorite.
I loved meeting Carlos and Margaret, and seeing the passion they have for their work.
Community Action's weatherization program doesn't just improve energy efficiency, it transforms lives by creating healthier living environments and reducing financial strain for vulnerable community members.
The video documents real change happening in real homes. By focusing on the stories of both the dedicated staff and the homeowners who benefit, we created a narrative that illustrates how concrete community action can address both climate concerns and economic equity, simultaneously.
It makes sense — they get to support members of their community in securing warm, comfortable shelter. Something all of us deserve.
When documenting mission-driven organizations, my approach centers the genuine commitment of people like Carlos and Margaret without artificial staging or scripting. Their natural enthusiasm for their work communicates far more effectively than any polished marketing message could.
The resulting video has become an effective tool for Community Action's outreach efforts, helping them secure additional funding and volunteer support while educating the broader community about available resources.
